About The Olive Grove
The Olive Grove is a private retreat set within a young olive orchard in Main Town, Addo, overlooking natural marshland alive with birdlife. Reeds sway in the breeze, fish eagles call overhead, and the rhythm of the valley slows everything down.
Two private villas sit quietly at the edge of the wetlands, each positioned to capture the best light and uninterrupted views across the reeds.
Start the morning slowly with coffee in bed while the marsh wakes up. Sink into a bath beside a large window looking out over the reeds. End the day with a braai on your verandah as the sun sets across the valley.
Situated on the R335 between Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and Addo Elephant National Park, the location offers the rare balance of feeling hidden away while remaining just minutes from the region’s greatest experiences.
Nature on your doorstep. Everything else just minutes away.

David and Meghan have called Addo home for the past 11 years, sharing their land with four dogs, two cats, and a flock of chickens.
The olive orchard surrounding the villas was planted by hand only in 2023, in the beginning, every young tree was watered bucket by bucket.
The villas themselves grew from long conversations and many glasses of wine, with every detail carefully imagined together.
The Olive Grove is the result of bringing a shared dream to life, a place designed to slow down, breathe deeply, and share a quiet piece of nature with others.
The Area
Perfectly placed on the R335 between Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and Addo Elephant National Park, The Olive Grove sits in the heart of the Sundays River Valley, one of the Eastern Cape’s most beautiful landscapes.
Just 15 minutes from the Addo main gate, it’s an ideal base for exploring the park, with guided game drives easily arranged from the accommodation.
South Africa’s third-largest national park and one of its most remarkable wildlife destinations.
Home to more than 600 elephants, along with lion, buffalo, rhino, leopard and great white sharks in its marine section making it the only park in the world with the Big Seven.
The natural marshland directly outside your verandah is a thriving wetland ecosystem and an exceptional birding habitat.
Frequent sightings include African fish eagles, herons, kingfishers, Burchell’s coucals, bee-eaters, and large seasonal gatherings of swallows that roost in the reeds.
Beyond the wildlife, the region is known for its vast citrus orchards, the winding Sundays River, and the wide open skies of the Eastern Cape.
It’s a place where days are shaped by sunlight, birdsong, and the slow rhythm of country life.
